A good set but overpriced.

I have to concur with the other reviewer in that this is a nice set but eighty bucks is too much. Either include the Col. Conk Badger Brush or lower the cost to about sixty dollars. However, I have been using the boar brush without any problems. Those with sensitive skin, though, may not like the brush since it is a little prickly. Note that the brush does have a plastic handle and not a ceramic one. The razor worked OK but does not have any grips which make it slippery if your hands are wet. Also, the only place I could find the replacement cartridges was online and they were about eighteen dollars with shipping for a pack of ten. If you're getting into wet shaving like me you're probably going to buy a DE razor anyway. I ended up purchasing the Merkur HD 34G and love it. I really bought this set for the stand and mug. I like the wood stand and think it looks classy on my bathroom counter. Note that you can adjust the brush and razor holder so the brush can hang over the mug if you want. I was a little dissapointed in the quality of the mug. First, it had red lettering and not green like shown in the photo. Second, it felt light and a bit cheap in its build quality. When putting the soap in don't shove it in if the soap is tight and doesn't want to fit. It might crack the mug. Instead put the soap in as far as it will go and put the mug in the microwave on "HI" for ten seconds. This softens the soap up and allowed it to slide to the bottom. I received the almond soap which does have a really nice, sweet (but not too sweet) aroma. It lathered up nicely and provided a close shave. I, also, didn't need any after shave balm because of dryness. It is now summer, though, and I don't get very dry skin this time of year so the winter may be different. All in all, a nice starter set but they should include the better brush or lower the cost.

Great kit but the brush could use a little work

This is a great kit and it is desined to give you that oldtime babrber shop look. The mug is great and comes with almond shaving soap instead of the amber pure glyscerine soap. The brush is nice but isn't the greatest. For around $80 I expected a better quality shaving brush like the badger brush instead of boar, but it still works. Overall it is still a very nice kit but I figure it should have only been maybe around $60 instead.
